What are the requirements to become a contestant?
- Be between the ages of 21 and 60.
- Utilize a wheelchair for 100% of your daily mobility.
- Have resided in the state of Illinois for at least six months prior to the state pageant.
- Serve as the state titleholder at the annual Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant.
Next you must request and fill out an official application and locate sponsors for your entry fee.
What does my entry fee pay for?
The monies that you collect go towards the expenses of the pageant: renting the hall, meals for you and a companion, entertainment, prizes and awards. The entry fee can be paid by sponsors. Please have checks payable to Ms. Wheelchair Illinois.
What is a platform speech?
Each contestant will select an issue that they are passionate about and will support during their year long reign. The speech should briefly tell about themselves and their platform. Platform speeches will be recited during the private interview and during the onstage interview. The timed speech should be 2 minutes long.
